Thank you for nominating SabrinasReach4Life for the Northern Territory PHN Health & Wellbeing Award. Being recognised through these prestigious Awards is an honour in itself and to be a Finalist we feel very humbled. Congratulations to the other Finalists in the Award.

On the 10th of October SabrinasReach4Life was invited to the NT Mental Health Awards at Parliament House. To our surprise we were a nominee for the Innovation for Positive Change Award. Thankyou to Rebecca from No One Left Behind for nominating us.

In 2023, Suicide Prevention Australia will be celebrating the 20th Annual LiFE Awards recognising excellence in suicide prevention.
This prestigious national event attracts diverse nominations with an interest in suicide prevention and support of those affected by suicide across Australia. A suicide prevention program is one that is implemented to address, prevent, or respond to suicidal behaviours and their impact on people, families, communities and the Australian population. Nominations can include business, industry, media, community, government, youth, research and medicine.

The Northern Territory has the highest rate of suicide in the country....we ask "why"?....SabrinasReach4Life hosted the World Suicide Prevention Day Forum 2022 in the NT on the 9th September and asked the same question to all that were at the Forum. The Suicide Prevention Annual Progress Report Cards provide a snapshot of the key achievements and developments for the operation of the NT Suicide Prevention Implementation Plan. Report four has now been released

Director & co-founder Lidia Di Lembo of SabrinasReach4Life was invited to do an interview on the ABC Radio Darwin's Jo Laverty morning session. Lidia also spoke of SabrinasReach4Life receiving a $20,000 grant from the Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal (FRRR) to help local communities recognise what a developing mental health problem looks like, and how to help stop a mental health crisis leading to suicide.

SabrinasReach4Life is pleased to announce that we have been successful in receiving a grant from the Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal FRRR , Supporting Mental Health in rural communities.
The In a Good Place program gives small remote, rural and regional communities across Australia the opportunity to access funds for a broad range of community-driven projects, services, activities or initiatives, which clearly and directly focus on strengthening mental health and wellbeing of vulnerable community members who are at risk of, or are experiencing, mental health issues and aims to support a range of approaches that are preventative or responsive in nature, reduce social isolation by increasing social participation and connectedness, and reduce stigma surrounding mental health by encouraging open discussion and supporting self-help-seeking.

On the 24th of August Happy Days Stickers on behalf of SabrinasReach4life and Mates in Construction were invited to be presented with a cheque of $1300 from the Australian Institute of Architects at the Charles Darwin Centre in Darwin. The money raised was from a trivia night that was held in support of suicide awareness in our community. We thankyou for your donation and support.

BBSSGNT will hold our support group for the 7th September in Palmerston at The Flourish Collective space. For further information and details please ~ phone 0491 311 211 or email [email protected] Our aim is to create a safe, supporting space for all those that would like to come along who have lost a loved one, friend, colleague to suicide. 🦋🌹

SR4L were one of the 2 charities chosen by the Happy Days Stickers team to fundraise this year in the Gran Fondo annual cycle event. SR4L committee members and family also participated in this great community event. Our involvement together with Mates in Construction helped shine a light on suicide, suicide prevention and mental illness. So far a total of $5286 has been raised.
We thank all donors and sponsors and in particular Michelle and Gareth from the Happy Days team for selecting our charity this year.

Lidia Di Lembo

SR4L Founding Director Lidia Di Lembo visited Darwin High School to speak with students about a project to support NT youth to be able to speak about their mental health & wellbeing that SR4L would like to see come to fruition. It is about storytelling to help reduce stigma of suicide and mental unwellness, kindness, compassion, empowerment for those who suffer or have suffered from some form of adversity and recognition of others who help those struggling.
The purpose is to encourage young people to share their story of their struggles or a distressful situation in their life, and how they coped or who helped them, including mental illness or situational crisis, as a way of giving hope to other young people who might be experiencing similar behaviours or situations.

A group of us finished our Mental Health Training with Principal Master Instructor Pauline Neil from MH Training. The course was a 12-hour course which ran over two days, it not only informed us about mental health but also the why and how as to what can happen to us mentally and physically…..read more

Sabrinasreach4life was invited to the NT Youth Round Table on the 5th of June 22 to talk about the “Young Healthy Minds Award” that SR4L aims to come to fruition. This award represents our youth of the NT.....who better to talk to. The ideas, and positivity from this group was inspirational. SR4L will continue on this journey with NT Youth Round Table and advocate with our Youth for their voice to be heard in what it is they need to be better supported in their mental health wellbeing.

The Happy Days concept began as a sticker designed by Gareth Roberts in 2015, which encapsulate the words “Happy Days”, of a great and dear friend, Kyle who died by suicide. Imagine this…….you are standing in a group of 5 people some may even be friends, colleagues, family. You are all happily talking away and everybody seems to be enjoying the conversation. What you may not know is that one of the people in this group is struggling. Mental health issues affect one in five people, and unfortunately many who do not have these issues miss to spot the signs in those that are struggling. Something to think about?....read more

Expressions of Interest are being sought as a Bereaved By Suicide Support Group Facilitator, you will draw upon your personal lived experience, to support and inspire hope, empowerment, and recovery for others.

On Wednesday 13th April 2022 SabrinasReach4Life hosted the Darwin Suicide Prevention Alliance Inaugural Meeting to discuss the scope to establish an Alliance in Darwin of likeminded organisations to present a unified and clearer voice to achieve this outcome.....read more

Expanding support for people impacted by suicide in the Northern Territory is part of a $43 million funding investment into mental health announced by the federal and NT governments this week.

ABC News Darwin interview with Lidia Di Lembo. Ms Di Lembo wants people with a lived experience of mental illness involved in determining how it's spent, and to improve how services reach those in need.

"We don't have the model right when it comes to young people", she said.
